Junior Curling

Our new purpose-built curling facility gives us the ability to run junior curling leagues. The facility is in the University area of Charlotte, which is easily accessible to many young Charlotteans in elementary school through college. Starting as young as age 6, junior curlers will enjoy a fun athletic experience, with a focus on sportsmanship and fair play. Our goal is to build a comprehensive program encouraging life-long participation in this Olympic sport.

Special Needs Curling

A unique aspect of curling is its accessibility to people with various mental and physical disabilities. It is internationally recognized as an official sport in the Paralympic Games and a potential addition to the Special Olympics. Within our facility, we intend to begin programs for wheelchair curling, blind curling and more to meet this rapidly growing demand.

About Our Logo

Following a notable defeat at the Battle of Camden in 1780, the American army retreated to safety in the city of Charlotte. British colonel Cornwallis arrived soon thereafter, expecting to find the weary troops but instead encountering fierce resistance from 150 militiamen. The local forces retreated after killing about a dozen British soldiers. In a later-intercepted letter intended for King George III, Cornwallis described Charlotte as a “hornet’s nest of rebellion” – a term which Charlotteans have embraced. The symbol of the hornet is now used across many organizations, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the Charlotte Hornets NBA team and, of course, the Charlotte Curling Association.

President - Neil Pifer:

Hello everyone! In addition to being the President of Charlotte Curling, I work for Rowan-Salisbury Schools as a K-12 Science specialist and Planetarium Director. My work allows me to mentor teachers and amaze students under a 30' dome everyday! My wife, Anne, is also an avid curler and is the best partner anyone could ask for... on and off the ice. Our family, which includes our dog, Hobbs, also enjoys broomstacking with curlers from all over. Good curling!

President Elect - Julie Dellibovi:

When I’m not curling throughout the week, you can either find me in the classroom (I teach 2nd grade) or outside with my two future curlers - Hannah and Noah - and my husband Rob. I’m originally from Philly, but now call the Charlotte side of Lake Wylie my home. I look forward to seeing you on the ice or warm room!

My wife (Megan) and I moved to Charlotte in 2020 and as soon as we realized there was a curling club we joined the waiting list for Charlotte Curling. During the workdays I am a project manager for one of Charlotte's many financial institutions. When not curling I love to travel, ski, read and cook.

Board member - Dana Derylak:

I am a NC Real Estate Broker with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Clemson University and a background in sales, management, and online marketing. I currently head up the CCA Little Rockers program which introduces kids ages 5-10 to the sport of curling. I love laughing, writing, creating, and making a difference. I work with 2 other area non-profits to promote awareness, inclusion and acceptance for marginalized people, particularly people in the LGBTQ+ community. I have an amazing partner, Tim, and two crazy kids. We live on a little mini-farm with our two dogs and 2 dozen chickens and counting. If you need fresh eggs, hit me up!

Board member - Casey DenHartigh:

I'm originally from Michigan, but moved to North Carolina about 6 years ago with my husband, Ryan, and our two beautiful huskies. I started curling in 2018 and I typically curl on Sunday mornings, Monday nights, and Thursday nights. Outside of curling, I love to read, run, camp, and travel.
