Charlotte Curling Association

The Charlotte Curling Association is a not-for-profit organization based in the greater Charlotte, NC area. We are committed to bringing the sport of curling to those interested in learning more about this great sport – the physical, strategic, and social aspects! Our members range in experience from 50+ years playing to those who have only seen it on TV. History

Founded during the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Charlotte Curling Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the sport of curling flourish in the greater Charlotte area. We have since grown to over 200 junior, adult and senior members, ranging from zero to 50+ years of curling experience.

The club’s rapid growth has led to many new opportunities, including hosting Bonspiels (curling tournaments) that have attracted teams from all across the US and Canada; hosting a curling camp with Olympic-caliber curling instructors, and opening a dedicated curling facility in November 2014! Junior Curling

Our new purpose-built curling facility gives us the ability to run junior curling leagues. The facility is in the University area of Charlotte, which is easily accessible to many young Charlotteans in elementary school through college. Starting as young as age 6, junior curlers will enjoy a fun athletic experience, with a focus on sportsmanship and fair play. Our goal is to build a comprehensive program encouraging life-long participation in this Olympic sport.

Adaptive Curling

A unique aspect of curling is its accessibility to people with various mental and physical disabilities. It is internationally recognized as an official sport in the Paralympic Games and a potential addition to the Special Olympics. Within our facility, we have programs for wheelchair curling on Thursday Morning, with access to all able bodied leagues, for those who want to curl more than once per week!

About Our Logo

Following a notable defeat at the Battle of Camden in 1780, the American army retreated to safety in the city of Charlotte. British colonel Cornwallis arrived soon thereafter, expecting to find the weary troops but instead encountering fierce resistance from 150 militiamen. The local forces retreated after killing about a dozen British soldiers. In a later-intercepted letter intended for King George III, Cornwallis described Charlotte as a “hornet’s nest of rebellion” – a term which Charlotteans have embraced. The symbol of the hornet is now used across many organizations, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the Charlotte Hornets NBA team and, of course, the Charlotte Curling Association.

I have been a curler for going on 20 years. I started curling back at the Utica Curling Club, where my father introduced me to the game. In 2019 I was looking for a change and decided to move to Charlotte, knowing there was a dedicated facility where I could continue my curling journey.

I ran for the board as a way to give back to the game that I love and that has given me so much over the years.

Hi everyone! I joined the club during the 2018 Olympic membership drive and, like most of us, instantly fell in love with curling. I’ve come to accept that I will probably never be good at curling, but I refuse to give up the dream that I might one day make the Olympic team purely by accident.

When I’m not on the ice, taking minutes at board meetings, or herding cats (both literally and metaphorically), I work in public education, tackling curriculum and professional learning to support teachers and administrators in my school district. I love to travel, cook (obvious, right?), read, and tend to the ever-growing chaos of my “yard farm” and the squirrels I might one day be able to pet.

This club has become one of my favorite communities, and I’m always up for broomstacking, good conversation, and questionable decision-making. See you on the ice, just don’t expect me to make my shot… or stay on my feet.

When I’m not curling throughout the week, you can either find me in the classroom (I'm an elementary school administrator by day) or outside with my two future curlers - Hannah and Noah - and my husband Rob. During the off-season, I spend time going on adventures, trying new foods or chauffeuring my kids to all their activities. I’m originally from Philly, but now call Christmastown, USA my home. I look forward to seeing you on the ice or warm room!

Amy June

Hi!! My name is Amy June! I am originally from Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!) I joined CCA during the last Olympic year in 2022 and I haven’t looked back since. I knew I wanted to join right after the Learn to Curl event we attended. I say I got hit by the curling bug hard and dove right in, after my first game I bought my broom and shoes. I am also passionate about teaching others how to curl and spreading the love I have for the sport and for our club. Outside of curling I spend my time with my husband Kevin, our 2 dogs, 1 very large cat and our 4 chickens.

Brad Eichelberger

I relocated to Charlotte in 2019. After attending a Cocktails and Curling event, my wife, Mandy, and I knew we wanted to join the club. A week later we were in our first league game. CCA is an amazing outlet for competition and camaraderie. Outside of curling I spend my time traveling, exploring new restaurants and spending time with my pups.
