Wish List

The Charlotte Curling Association is constantly seeking ways to make our wonderful curling rink better – more hospitable, more safe, more everything. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, though, and there’s so much more we can do to improve it. Here are a few things that we need that would help. If you have one you don’t want, then please consider donating it to Charlotte Curling so we can put it to good use.

A kegerator! We are quite limited in the beer we can serve at the bar, because we only have four taps, and because there is not enough refrigerated space under the bar. A kegerator would solve that, permitting us to serve more brands. The bar manager does take requests…

Light fixtures. Ever think to yourself that the warm room feels a tad institutional? Thank the overhead fluorescent lighting for that. We would like to make it a little warmer, homey, and more bar-like in its atmosphere. Better light fixtures over the broom-stacking tables, the snooker table, and the crokinole tables to the rescue!

Bound carpet for the side walkways. So you have noticed that the carpet on the side walkway of the ice area only extends a little bit of the way into the rink, and always wondered why? Simple – we didn’t have any to use. Carpet traps dirt and keeps your slider more pristine than the concrete floor we currently step on.

Solar panels and batteries. Running the chiller and maintaining ice when it’s 85F outside takes energy, and lots of it. Our electricity bill is one of CCA’s biggest expenses. Help minimize it and aid the planet’s environment, by installing solar panels on the rink and batteries to store the energy for when we need it. There’s a big wide roof just waiting for you!
