April 27 & 28, 2019
Come celebrate the end of another great year for CCA with one last bonspiel – and get home in time to watch the new Game of Thrones on Sunday night.
We’re busting up the league brackets for a club-only spring bonspiel – no full teams allowed! Sign up as singles or doubles to square off against friends, strangers, and new drinking buddies from any league night of the week.
HOW TO REGISTER
Because we’re not signing up full teams, participants can register either as a couple or as a single player. Couples should indicate if they’d prefer to play front end (lead/second) or back end (skip/vice). Singles should give their preference as first choice, second choice, etc. We’ll cap the spiel at 16 teams or 64 players, so spots are fairly limited.
Depending on turnout, matches could start as early as noon on Saturday. On Sunday, they could start as early as 8am, so all teams can get their games in and we can also catch Game of Thrones at 9pm. Each team is guaranteed three games. You’ll get the full details once full draws are sent out.
April 17, 2019 – or until we hit 64 players, whichever comes first! Team draws will be sent out no later than April 21.
Ready to rep your league? Sign up to play below.

It is time to register for the 2019 Grits 'n Granite Bonspiel lottery to determine the 4 club teams that will participate. The registration deadline is April 22 with the public draw on April 27 at the Annual Meeting. Grits 'n' Granite 2019 runs from Thursday, November 7 to Sunday, November 10. Club teams who enter should expect to play on Thursday afternoon or evening. Last draw start times are reserved for our out of town guests.
By submitting your entry you are agreeing to abide by the rules as outlined below. Any questions about these rules please contact Carol McKee.
Club team entries are submitted as whole team rosters. Club member entered as skip must play as skip. The skip is defined as being a player who stands in the house and calls the strategy and shots of the game. However the skip may throw any rocks they choose. If the club member listed as skip cannot fulfill the role of skip then the entire team moves up and any substitutions are brought in as lead and/or second.
Only one entry per team. Team members listed on one roster may NOT be entered on a second roster for the bonspiel. Entries with more than one member listed as TBD will be disqualified.
Any team with two or more Charlotte members is considered a Charlotte team and must apply through this process.
Teams that enter as five and under (entire roster) must indicate this on their entry. One five and under team will be drawn first. All remaining five and under teams will be put into the general lottery. The remaining three slots will be drawn.
After these four teams are drawn we will continue to draw all entries and that shall be the order of the teams on the waiting list. Teams that are chosen for the waiting list still must adhere to the rules above. The rosters submitted of people on the waiting list, in the order that they are pulled, with their full rosters of team members will be published. Bonspiel chair will pull from this list when an outside team drops out and another outside team cannot be obtained.
In addition to the four club slots, one team slot will be reserved for the bonspiel head icemaker and his team. If the chief icemaker for the event does not wish to play in the event then that team slot will be pulled from the club teams waiting list. What club member acts in this capacity as bonspiel head icemaker, and thus is eligible for the team entry, is at the sole discretion of the bonspiel chair and this may change from one bonspiel to the next.
Teams chosen are expected to follow the rules as outlined above. Failure to follow these guidelines during the event can result in games being forfeited.
As our club grows more people want to play in our bonspiels. We are instituting these rules to try to make it fair for everyone who enters and wants to play. We kindly ask that in consideration and fairness for all that these guidelines be respected.
Thanks and Good Curling,
Bonspiel Committee Chair
