Charlotte Curling Association will be hosting the 4th Annual Southern States Regional Championship for the upcoming season. The event will be held April 3-5, 2020 and feature top teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida competing for the title. This event gives the southern curling clubs the opportunity to build bonds and support the growth of competitive curling in our region.
Team Details
The event will have 16 teams (4 pools of 4 teams). The following clubs will be allowed one entry:

Registration Details
Each club will decide independently how teams from their clubs will be determined.
Teams are open (no limits on number of men or women) and are made up of league playing members of the club.
If a club does not enter a team by the deadline, entries will be taken from any club and a random drawing will be held to fill the remaining team spots.
Entry fee will be $500 per team.

Top four teams earn money:

4th = $500

3rd = $1000

4th = $1500

5th = $2000

Schedule
Games will be as follows:

Friday - 6:30pm & 9pm (round robin)

Saturday - 9am, 11:30am, 3pm, 5:30pm (round robin), 8pm (tie breakers)

Sunday - 8am, 11am, 2pm (playoffs)
Rules
The following rules will apply for the event:

USCA rules apply

Regulation broom heads are required
-
Games will be eight ends
-
Two-minute practice and one-minute last stone draw (LSD) will be conducted for hammer
-
Rock color and sheet of play will be pre-determined based on schedule
-
Top two teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs
-
If two teams tie for 1st and 2nd, then head-to-head will be used to rank teams.

If three teams tie for the top of the pool, the team with the best average LSD from the three round robin games will get the first playoff spot. The other two teams will play a tiebreaker game to determine the second playoff spot.

If three teams tie for bottom of the pool, the two teams with the best LSD average from the three round robin games will play a tiebreaker game for the second playoff spot.

The following timeline includes the important dates for this event:

9/1/19: Registration opens. All clubs will be notified of the event details prior to this date.

2/1/20: Deadline for each club to determine club representative, notify host club, and pay entry fee. Any club that has not paid by deadline will forfeit entry.

2/28/20: Deadline for extra team entries

3/1/20: Extra team entries randomly drawn

3/2/20: Extra team drawing winners notified

3/6/20: Deadline for extra team drawing winners to pay entry fee

4/3/20 thru 4/5/20: Event held in Charlotte
