Today was a big day for the club. It all started with a session at the Ice House to get our LearnToCurl process ironed out. We want to be sure we are ready for everyone when we open the doors later this month for our first official LearntoCurl. It went smoothly, but we have a lot of things we are going to tweak to make it better. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot.
As we were getting started, my cell phone was ringing. I tried to ignore it, but something told me to check my phone. As it turns out, it was the president of the Grand National Curling Club telling me our application for membership was APPROVED! Our Charlotte Curling Club is, officially, the newest member of the GNCC and US Curling Association!!! 
We have also been approved for 2 sets of rocks, but can possibly get more sets to support the interest we have in the area. That would mean we could let more people in the leagues!
Also today we met a new friend – a founding member from a startup club in Greenville, SC. Davis Harrelson, of the Palmetto Curling Club (find them on facebook), joined us for an overview of the LTC process as they prepare for their first Open House next month. Its great having another club so close for bonspiels.
When it was all done, we enjoyed a little of the traditional post-curling socializing – a great way to finish off a perfect afternoon.
Curling in Charlotte is finally here!

I’m really looking forward to the LTC in Charlotte. I’m curious though — is there curling in Greenville, SC too? (Or will there be?) I live in that area and would be interested in participating there as well.
