The big day finally arrived! We had two local television stations plus many fans on hand for the events. Most were a little nervous, not quite sure what to expect after all the anticipation of the past few months. On the other hand, maybe it was just me hoping that, when it was all over, everyone would be glad they made this commitment. Looking back, I can safely say that everyone was still smiling at the end of the night. Check out the photos on our flicker link and the two TV segments below.
It is amazing to see how much our new players have progressed over the past three weeks. From reading the skip’s calls to learning the right weight to throw, everyone is gaining a lot more confidence! I was sure after the first game, my skip was going to auction me off to the lowest bidder but he is starting to think that even I have potential.
At last night’s game, we had a reporter from the Charlotte Observer, Corey Inscoe, on hand to take in the curling experience. Corey learned a lot about the sport, gave it a try, and even joined us for post-game broom-stacking. We already consider Corey an honorary member, and look forward to having him back out on the ice as an official member real soon.
We have just 3 more games and then we take a break until August 14th, when we host the next LearnToCurl – which means its your turn to give it a try. If you are interested, send us a message with the names of each participant. We are also considering dates now for a Winter League. Stay tuned for those dates coming soon.
Go ahead and put my name down for the winter league! Thanks – Jessica W.
