The first of two stages of the 1st annual Inter-Club Friendly between Charlotte Centre Curling Club and Palmetto Curling Club took place on Friday, Sept 9 2011 at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail. Each club was represented by 16 players divided into 4 rinks, each playing up to 8 ends. Scoring was based on a point system and Charlotte Centre Curling club has taken the early lead. The second and final stage will be played with Palmetto Curling Club hosting in Greenville, SC on Saturday, October 29. At the conclusion of those 4 games, the cummulative points for each club will be tallied and the winning club will be presented with the inaugural trophy, the 1712 Cup. The competition gets its name from the year that the Carolina Colony split into North and South Carolina.
